The story
Official synopsis
After returning to South Africa for his estranged father's funeral, Zack, an American-raised Zulu man, finds himself trapped inside a Midrand house with his Cuban Catholic stepbrother, Miguel.
Every attempt to leave brings them back to the same room at exactly 18:00.
As their increasingly desperate attempts to escape descend into absurdity, a mysterious ancestral presence begins haunting the brothers. Miguel turns to improvised exorcisms, holy water and questionable religious tactics, while Zack discovers that the spirit's connection to his family runs deeper than he wants to admit.
What begins as a ridiculous supernatural nightmare becomes a confrontation with cultural identity, abandonment, brotherhood and the uncomfortable question of what we inherit from the people who came before us.
In Between Time blends outrageous dark comedy with an intimate exploration of family, belonging and the things that refuse to stay buried.
